Improving the Quality of Life

SERvice-TO-MAnkind (Sertoma)

Sertoma International

Sertoma is one of the oldest service clubs in the United States. We operate nationwide, with deep roots in the communities we serve at the local level. We seek to transform lives and, in doing so, we also transform ourselves. We are men and women who understand that we can accomplish more together than we can alone. We know we can make a difference with our national mission of hearing health and in the other important areas of service our clubs provide. We are people who have heard the call to help.  We answer that call every day, all across the country. We are Sertomans.

Sertoma Club of Nashville

For more than 70 years Sertoma Club of Nashville has sought to improve the quality of life here in Middle Tennessee in various ways. We provide sophisticated audiology services and hearing aids to low income individuals who do not have the means to purchase them on their own. Individuals with hearing loss many times are excluded from life's simple activities and pleasures, like engaging in conversation, listening to music, or participating in a church service. The hearing aids that Sertoma supplies impact a broader circle beyond the recipient. Ask any family member, or close friend of our recipients, what it is like to communicate with their loved ones, with the Sertoma Clubs help.

In addition, the Sertoma Club of Nashville has partnered with other local organizations to help them provide aid throughout our community.

For example:

"Hear Nashville": an organization that serves the sweet-spot of Sertoma's mission, hearing and communicative disorders. With our club's help, they have served over 1300 individuals by supplying hearing aid equipment and audiologist services to assure excellent hearing. Because of economic need, the individuals served would not have been able to secure this help without Hear Nashville.

"One Generation Away": an organization who wants to end the food drought,

"Bridges": an organization that serves the deaf and hearing impaired community

"Camp Widjiwagen": a summer camp session tailored just for deaf and hearing impaired campers

"Songs for Sound":  travels across the country testing hearing in its roving "Hearing Health"trailer, free of charge

There are simply too many to mention here.  Please ask any Sertoma member to share the good news.

Our members are lifted by serving mankind.

Sertoma Club of Nashville Foundation "An endowment for Changing Lives"

Through our 75 year history, Sertoma has worked hard to make a difference. Today we have a seven-figure endowment which along with our annual fundraising efforts provides resources to do good work for Middle Tennesseans. The Foundation is managed by Trustees composed of past presidents of the club.
